Allotment short-lists the final nominated artists as an archive. This archive was initiated to support artists and their artistic practice by showcasing their information. Hoping to be the platform for the artists’ further development with a desire to showcase to a new audience globally. It is updated regularly and also added nominee from the Travel Award short-list: Their practice crosses the boundaries of genre, and the archive is to further understand artists' work as well as the current art scene in Japan.

Daisuke HAYATA/Tokyo


Born in 1981, Hyogo. Graduated from BA in Social Studies, Yokohama City University in 2005 – Attended a seminar series at BankART 1921 by Daido Moriyama and Risaku Suzuki in 2004.

Tomoe MURAKAMI/Tokyo


Born 1980 in Chiba, is a graduate from BA in Art and Literature, Waseda University in 2004. Awared for 6th Miki Jun prize, Nikon Salon Juna21 in 2004 and 1st Place Award for The Art Photography Show, Lyceum Theatre Gallery in 2010. Currently works as the Assistant Professor, Photography Center, Tokyo University of the Arts.

Born 1974 in Mie and graduated from BA in Oil Painting at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in 1999. He completed MFA from Department of Fine Art Research in 2001 and MFA in Fine Art Practicum Course at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music.

Are You Meaning Company/Berlin


The Company was established in 1999. It takes an interest in the forms of individual human daily life, and tries though its projects to see the various small aspects of our lives from new angles. It is important that the Company’s work develop through positive social interactions across cultural gaps. AreYou Meaning Company operates through collaborative processes. It allows multiple interpretations to emerge.

Kana YOSHIDA/Yokohama


Born in 1975 and is graduated from Hiroshima city university, Faculty of Art in 2002. Yoshida previously participated artists-in-residency in Los Angels in USA and Fiskars in Finland. She is currently working on painting in search for various landscape since 2003.

Youki HIRAKAWA/Nagoya


Born 1983 in Nagoya and Completed MA in Media and Design from Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences in 2008. He will be the resident artist at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart.

Yoichi SANO/Tokyo


Born 1970 in Tokyo and graduated from BA in Design at Tokyo Zokei University in 1994 and completed Non-degree Graduate Course in Design at Tokyo Zokei University in 1996. He was awarded scholarship by Agency For Cultural Affairs Scholarship Japan and lectured in Tokyo Zokei University and Tokyo University of the Arts in 2004. Currently he is the associate lecturer for Department of Inter Media Art, at Tokyo University of the Arts.

Tatsuo MAJIMA/Tokyo


Graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1993 and joined in Studio Shokudo in 1997-2000. Previously the lecturer for B-semi Learning System of Contemporary Art in 2000-2004. His practice highlights the ironies of reality through the absurdity of his performative acts. On first site the actions appear to be improvised, yet they are carefully constructed through various media. His recent works serve as a ‘trace’ of the ordinary life of influential people - a portrayal of the social-reality of causality.
